Seriously, why does 50% of the community here think they know everything about the Wii (hackers or not) even though they don't know **** about it (like that pathetic Rockman15x), 35% are scared little bitches and only 15% actually have worthwhile questions? Why the hell is this?|||Most likely. You are using the HomeBrewChannel, right? I use it too, and it is safe to use the online capabilities of the Wii.
The only things that brick it are installing things that modify the NAND (system memory), and turning the power off in the process.
It is good that you are cautions, nobody wants a brick.
